1. Wonderful post. Your word pictures is superb and articulate. I was definitely struck by this: “It is the Ur Myth, the Story of Stories, the Template from which all we know of romance and heroism has been cast.”

Everything we write stems from the fact that God loved us first. He is the first Hero, the first Romantic (if you will), and the Conqueror.  That is resonating with me, let me tell you.

Also, “Even Paul, called by God to be a celibate apostle, didn’t dare insinuate that his level of devotion to evangelism should serve as a template for others.” makes a profound point here. When it comes to the gifts God has given us, we can use them for His glory in so many different ways. I liked that as well.

    Great post!

This is jaw-dropping in its eloquence and beauty. I was touched by the power of the statements, and I may have to get that Timothy Keller book pretty soon. There is definitely something there for me.

God has been working me through submission lately – what it means, where it will lead me, where it might leave me when I do – and this message spoke strongly to that. This is a true devotional, and makes great points.

    Thank you.
