Oh look, it’s about every space adventure cliche put in a spray bottle aimed at our faces. It’s like it needs to be made into a drinking game, except we’d need a way to avoid alcohol poisoning.

    • That’s pretty much the point, notleia. It’s all very tongue-in-cheek, a use of the standard tropes as the springboard for humor. Maybe not everyone will appreciate this kind of genre self-satire, but I thought it was hilarious.

This novel is supposed to be a comic one, but yeah I was thinking along those lines too.

I see your point, but maybe you are being a little harsh. Looks like a bit of fun, fluffy space opera escapism. Not my thing, generally, but lots would like it, I would guess.

I loved this book! Personally, I don’t care for hard sci fi, stories that are full of technical details and scientific accuracies. I’d rather enjoy a good space opera (like Space Drifters) or a social sci fi (like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep). Give me Philip K. Dick or Ray Bradbury or Robert Heinlein any day. I’ve now added Paul Regnier to that list and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
